Things to Consider
Time zones
As the Earth spins on its axis around the sun, night and day are caused. Naturally, at any one time, some parts of our planet are facing towards the sun and some are facing away. The planet is broken into 24 separate bands, or time zones. Different places around the globe are experiencing different stages of the day, so there is a need for different time zones. At certain times of the year, some countries adjust their clocks to daylight saving time. At the start of daylight saving, clocks are put forward, usually by an hour, right through the summer months and put back in autumn. This adjustment gives people an extra hour of sunlight at the end of the work or school day in the summer months. |
